Additional The Witcher Information

Set in a world created by best-selling Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher combines spectacular action and an intriguing storyline. You earn a living killing monsters, and are a member of a brotherhood founded long ago to protect people from werewolves, the undead, and a host of other beasts.

What Customers Say About The Witcher:

A fully realized world with amazing characters.Very nice visuals that still hold up today.Amazing storyline.Great sound track.I can't say much more than that, get this game.

To run the game as administrator, right click the game launcher and choose "run as administrator." I've uninstalled The Witcher, downloaded the 1.3 patch, re-intalled it with still no luck. There's probably a patch or some hoops I can jump through to get things to work, but I'm not in the mood. It's control/Alt/Delete or nothing. Maybe you're not as lazy as me about finding patches and fixes for a game that should work perfectly right out of the box. But if you're a Vista user you might want to avoid this one.Update: I got slightly less lazy and tried running the game as administrator, and I was able to get things to work. Basically I'm able to get to the opening fight scene where the tutorial begins and the game freezes. Can't pause or escape.

So who knows, maybe it's a great game. I also lowered all my settings to the lowest possible graphics and that seems to help. Maybe I got a lemon, but The Witcher doesn't work on my system running 32-bit Windows Vista, 2GB memory and a GForce 7200 graphics card. Can't move my character. Maybe it will run on your system just fine.

it'll run real smooth on that ^.^ music: the music is kinda cool. but after a while it gets really easy. but if you don't have the right computer for them. it's more backround music. there is five side stories corresponding with the main story and each side story is unique and very interesting. unlike oblivion for instance. "there is no good, no evil- only decisions and consequences" each choice you make leads to a different story inside each side story.

it is extremely fun. but it's not Devil May Cry cool. kinda mellow. but it does get more up beat when your facing bosses and stuff like that.replay value: perfect. so it does end. they aren't as spectacular. and if you don't believe me. but it took me about 2 months to complete the whole game.if your still kinda iffy on getting it.

you better ask yourself "why did it get 100 awards if it sucked."now, you should know that this isn't an open-ended RPG. and really addicting.story: the story is so good it could be made into a movie. it's all very complicated, but believe me, it's a very good story.gameplay: at first it's a little hard.

i recommend windows vista home premium server pack 1 with an intel centrino dual processer 3.0 GHz, 3 GB RAM, and nvidia GeForce 93000 GS 512MB. OR REGRET IT. let me un-iffy-i-fi it for you.GET IT.

i've played alot of RPG's and this is no doubt the BEST.besides winning over 100 awards for best rpg and selling over 100 million copies worldwide, being a pc game only. and if you ever played oblivion, the gameplay will come easily to you.graphics: they are amazing. i played the game 3 times (trying to see what all the stories were) and i NEVER had any trouble.this game is the absolutely the best RPG ever.

and once you make it through that process, if you're running Windows 7 you have some cryptic error messages you have to solve before you can play. The most recent Catalyst updates did lessen this problem, but it's still bad enough to render the game unplayable. On Windows 7 64 bit with an ATI 5850. you're going to be greeted with some heavy screen distortion that makes the game virtually unplayable.

I won't know for sure. but until ATI fixes their drivers. Just from the little I have played it, I can just feel that it has potential. This game has TONS of technical problems so BUYER BEWARE. While it's commendable that you can upgrade this version to the enhanced edition FOR FREE (legally)., that process is far from intuitive. assuming you don't have an ATI 5000 series video card (like me) If you do, well. If you have Windows XP and a reasonably modern system I imagine this game would be tremendous fun.

or until this game is patched. I don't have the heart to give this game the 1 star it deserves. Once you get past all of that, it SHOULD play. no, it most definitely is not fun.

Just the combat alone makes this game a must not buy because like in all rpgs, combat is a main focus of the game. It is unlike any other rpg, you have to click at the exact moment when a silly flash happens on the sword, it is based on twitch reflexes and is like an arcade game. Unless you want to be play an arcade style rpg skip this, there are many other rpgs with real depth and good combat mechanics than this available. If you look at the one and two star reviews you will notice a constant complaint - the combat. It is truly awful, try the demo and see for yourself. Lets just say even the developer knows this design was a total lemon and will be changing it for the witcher 2 (quietly though).
